Thomas Truax Joins Blang

Sunday, 11 March 2012 13:49

We’re proud to welcome Thomas Truax to the Blang label with his new “Monthly Journal” album. Well-known for his storming live shows, his array of self-built and -invented instruments and his oddball and charming songs Thomas made his first appearance outside his native US at Blang at the 12 Bar in 2003.

“Monthly Journal” is the result of Thomas’s 2011 project to write, record and release to radio a song each month. This resulted in several spins from Jarvis Cocker and an interview with Mark Radcliffe on 6 Music.

“Monthly Journal” is out now in all download shops and as a CD from the Blang shop Its in record shops on March 26th.

“ a fabulous album, and a great place to start if you’re keen to discover this maverick mad sonic inventor. Truax is so incredibly creative, and, like all of his previous albums, there is layer upon layer of weirdness and surreal enchantment to be discovered with each new listen. This is a worthy addition to the already formidable Truax canon.” (Pennyblack)

The debut 5 track Predator download EP from Liverpool’s Sheepy is out today (BLANG 38)! As played by Mark Radcliffe on Radio 2 last week and as heard soundtracking the Scottish goals on Soccer AM.

‘classic indie-guitar songwriting... the title track has a non-stop, melodic, powerpop rush and undeniable charm. 'Bread And Noodles' is early Super Furry Animals jamming with Teenage Fanclub and is all the better for it. A superb debut and definitely a talent to keep your eye on’ (Sounds XP)

a voice tailored by superior beings… brilliant… a pop classic’ (Unpeeled)

‘Quite simply a great track’ (Soccer Am Site)
