Autumn releases and news

David Cronenberg’s Wife
The third David Cronenberg’s Wife album ‘Don’t Wait To Be Hunted To Hide’ is in physical and online shops this week as a 10 track CD or download. More narratives from the minds of obsessives and psychopaths fed through the usual DCW blender of sinister surf guitars and autistic post-punk repetition. Like Link Wray soundtracking a David Peace story.

Reviews are due in Q and Uncut. There’s a review/interview at Fame here, which includes a stream of Spiked and calls the album one of the most interesting of the year:

The 4 track Spiked download EP is also out now with 3 non-album tracks including a great cover of Paul Hawkins’s ‘Music Is My Enemy’ and an Oculus III remix of Spiked.

Matt Dolphin
Matt Dolphin’s recent first Blang release is the 8 track ‘Eighth House’ album and is a favourite at Blang HQ, one of those album’s that just gets better and better with each play. It has resonances of Tim Buckley, Nicks Drake and Cave and Lee Hazelwood. The review from Sounds XP here describes it better. It’s available as a download or hand-made CD-R direct from Matt throught the Blangshop

Sheepy
Liverpool’s Sheepy release ‘Another Day’, their last single of the year, next Monday. It’s in the shops or at gigs on split 7 inch vinyl with Irish band Vamos (a co-prodution between Blang and Irish label Dead Monkey). We haven’t put this on sale on iTunes or anywhere official but Blang fans can download the Sheepy tracks for 1p each (or 1p for both - you can’t get much cheaper than that) as a special offer at the Blangshop

‘Another Day’ is Sheepy’s most addictive pop tune to date and has had 5 plays on 6 Music as well as twice soundtracking the goals on Sky’s Soccer AM. The video featuring firework-related antics and tour buffoonery from their recent European tour is here

Sheepy record their first album in January which should be out late spring / early summer.

Milk Kan
Scrappy has been writing songs with Brighton’s dub reggae aristocrat Prince Fatty.

Sergeant Buzfuz
Have started recording their new album and Joe is recording a solo album. They have a new bassist.

Corporal Machine And The Bombers
Have recorded an album with Ian Button which we’re putting out on vinyl next year.

Slate Islands
Should have their first album out next year. It’s recorded.

Thomas Truax
Is working on new material in Germany.

Thanks for supporting Blang, a truly independent label run for love. Many so-called independents are fronts for bigger labels. Which is why they’re shit.
